Federal Vote Intention Tightens


Nationally, the Conservatives lead by 3 points. Over the last two weeks, the Conservatives stand at 32%, followed by the NDP at 29%, the Liberals 25%, the Greens 7% and the BQ 5%.



  • The NDP continue to lead in the province of Quebec. Here, they stand at 32%, to 22% for the BQ, 19% for the Liberals, 18% for the Conservatives, and 8% for the Greens.
  • The Conservatives and Liberals are neck and neck in Ontario. Here, the Conservatives are at 35%, the Liberals 34%, the NDP 26% and the Greens 5%.
  • The NDP have opened up a 12 point lead in BC. The NDP stands at 42%, to 30% for the Conservatives, 16% for the Liberals, and 11% for the Greens.
  • In Alberta, the Conservatives stand at 61%, to 17% for the Liberals, 10% for the NDP, and 7% for the Greens.
  • In Manitoba and Saskatchewan, the Conservatives and NDP both stand at 35%, to 16% for the Liberals, and 9% for the Greens.
  • In Atlantic Canada¸ the Liberals stand at 34%, to 30% for the Conservatives, 27% for the NDP, and 8% for the Greens.

Each week, Harris/Decima interviews just over 1000 Canadians through teleVox, the company’s national telephone omnibus survey. The most recent data were gathered between January 12 and January 22, 2012 for just over 2,000 completed interviews. A sample of the same size has a margin of error of 2.2%, 19 times out of 20.
