There are over 85,000 Registered Charities in Canada (According to the Canada Revenue Agency), most of which partake in some form of fundraising so they can deliver the programs and initiatives for which they were established. Canada’s community non-profit sector is one of the largest in the world and is often referred to as the “Third Sector” of our economy. In order to dig deeper into how Canadians are feeling about charity giving, Harris/Decima conducted a detailed syndicated study in October 2011. This study gauged the feelings of Canadians on emerging issues and trends relating to lottery fundraising activities. It assists charities in anticipating changing market conditions and shed light on future growth opportunities and potential barriers for these organizations.
