La majorité des électeurs ne veulent pas d’élections fédérales avant 2013
Selon Doug Anderson, vice-président principal : « Les Canadiens implorent rarement la tenue d’élections, mais les résultats de ce sondage démontrent clairement qu’à l’heure actuelle, mieux vaut patienter. Chose certaine, si des élections étaient déclenchées prochainement, le chef de parti perçu comme le déclencheur devrait convaincre les électeurs que le temps d’aller aux urnes est venu. Même au sein de leurs propres partisans, aucun parti n’arrive à obtenir un consensus sur la tenue immédiate d’élections. Ces résultats mettent encore plus en évidence le fait que les Canadiens souhaitent que le Parlement actuel trouve une façon de collaborer et s’attelle à la tâche de gouverner. »
Majority Say No Election Until 2013
According to Senior Vice-President Doug Anderson, “Canadians rarely beg for an election, but this data is clearly showing that the preference is to wait. Certainly, if one is going to be triggered in the near-term, whichever party leader is perceived to be pressing for it will have to convince voters it is time for one. Even among their own supporters, there is no consensus in any party that an election should be held immediately. These results provide more evidence that Canadians want to see this Parliament find a way to work together and get on with the task of governing.”
Conservatives Move Ahead, Negative Impressions of Ignatieff on the Rise
According to Senior Vice-President Jeff Walker “Talk about a potential election appears to be giving a lift to the Conservatives. Impressions of Michael Ignatieff have weakened over the summer months, which appear to have taken some wind out of the party's sails."
